A Tiflet Kilim: Authentic Berber Kilim Rug and Unique Piece

A difficult-to-weave and rare-to-find rug: very few pieces are produced each year.

This authentic Berber rug comes from Morocco's Middle Atlas. Each Tiflet rug requires approximately two months of manual weaving, done entirely by hand by Moroccan weavers. No thread is left to chance: it is this complex weaving that explains the rarity of the piece.

Tiflet Kilim: Characteristics, Dimensions, and Wool

  • Dimensions: 2.70 m × 1.83 m (8.9 × 6 feet), a large rug suitable for spacious areas
  • Material: natural, chemically untreated wool, soft and durable
  • Color palette: orange, white, ecru, sky blue, green, yellow, and red, harmoniously blended
  • Technique: traditional flat weaving, done thread by thread by the weavers of Tiflet
  • Reversible: two sides, two different looks to transform your room in an instant

Flat weaving distinguishes this rug from long-pile knotted rugs: a thin, tight surface that does not trap dust deep inside. Compared to a thicker and heavier knotted oriental rug, the oriental rug is easy to handle and move from room to room.

When buying a rug of this size, we recommend considering the room's use and the potential presence of heavy furniture.

Unique Piece: The Weavers' Craftsmanship at the Heart of the Rug

By choosing this rug, you directly support Berber weavers and a tradition that their tribes continue to preserve. We select these pieces with an ethical commitment to the women who weave them.

Each weft thread is worked individually between the warp threads: this is how the geometric patterns characteristic of traditional Tiflet rugs are created. Diamonds, straight lines, and zigzags echo the traditional motifs of Tiflet rugs. A handmade rug can be recreated in a similar style, but never exactly the same.

Reversible Moroccan Rug: Versatility at the Service of Decor

Style: chic and bohemian. This rug brings elegance and warmth to a modern, minimalist, rustic, or bohemian interior.

The multicolored palette of this colorful rug blends harmoniously: orange, white, ecru, sky blue, green, yellow, and red energize the room. Simply flipping the rug is enough to change the atmosphere, as each side offers its own look.

Ideal for: living rooms, bedrooms, and entryways. At this size, the rug structures a large living room or dresses the space under a bed.

Colorful Berber Rug: Unique Texture and Design

Natural, untreated wool: a softness that develops over time. Denser and warmer than a cotton piece, the fiber develops a patina that enriches the presence of this colorful Berber rug.

The tight weaving of this Tiflet piece ensures its durability. Each piece bears the mark of its region of origin and the meticulous work of its weavers.

Rug Care: Simple and Effective

  • Regular cleaning: vacuum without a rotating brush, once a week
  • Small stains: water and mild soap, rinse by blotting gently
  • Deep cleaning: professional dry cleaning every 12 to 18 months for a heavily walked-on piece
  • Regular wear: flip the rug every six months
  • Fringes: untangle by hand and avoid vacuuming them to prevent pulling on the threads

Thanks to its natural wool, this rug can withstand standard care. However, washing machines, harsh products, and excessive heat should be avoided.

Berber Kilim Rug: Investing in Authenticity

This exceptional rug is a work created by Moroccan weavers whose craftsmanship dates back centuries. This highly limited artisanal production makes each Berber rug a precious piece.
