Sabra cushion: a unique hand-woven piece

The Sabra cushion brings a unique textile presence to a room. Each cover is hand-woven, dyed, and finished by Berber craftswomen in Morocco: no two models are identical, each piece is unique by definition.

In fact, the craftswomen of the High Atlas work with slight variations in shade and design. What the weaving tells about each cushion is its manual origin, visible in its details and its own rhythm.

Material and composition: Sabra plant fiber

• 100% Sabra plant fiber, derived from aloe vera and Saharan cactus: a resistant and biodegradable material
• 100% hand-woven by Berber craftswomen in Morocco: each piece retains its own relief
• Colors dyed with 100% vegetable pigments: less fixed, more vibrant nuances in the light
• Standard size: approximately 50 × 50 cm or 45 × 45 cm square format
• Supple, slightly satiny feel: a soft presence without excessive shine
• Natural variations in shade due to traditional dyeing baths

The fiber used comes from plants cultivated in Morocco, then processed according to ancient textile know-how. Concretely, placed on a sofa or bed, it brings visual lightness without decorative fragility.

Decoration and styles: where to place your Sabra cushion

The Sabra cushion easily finds its place in a bohemian, ethnic, or more minimalist interior. What truly changes in a room is its ability to create a clear texture point, without weighing down the overall aesthetic.

Preferably used when the floor is light or mineral: Sabra shades stand out better and retain their finesse. For a 2 to 3-seater sofa, two cushions are often enough to create a clear balance.

On a 140 to 160 cm bed, three covers in similar tones create a cohesive presence. I recommend patinated shades when the room is already colored, and more vibrant tones when the overall setting remains sober.

Cushion care: preserving its material

Gentle care helps preserve the weave's hold and the nuance of the vegetable pigments. The material stays beautiful longer when the actions are simple and regular.

• Dusting: tap or shake lightly dry to remove dust
• Stain cleaning: Marseille soap or mild soap with a damp cloth, without aggressive rubbing
• Avoid: washing machine, dryer, prolonged soaking
• Drying: light rinse with clear water, then natural air drying

What a photo doesn't convey are the subtle tonal variations created by natural pigments. Over time and with light, a slight patina may appear: the material then gains visual depth.

Sabra, Berber textile heritage. Our pieces are handcrafted and may have slight differences in pattern or color. In fact, these variations are the signature of manual work passed down from generation to generation.

Sabra, also known as cactus silk, is one of the strongest, eco-friendly and biodegradable plant fibers. It is a 100% vegetable material composed of fibers extracted from cactus agave and aloe vera grown in the Sahara desert. Its production is entirely handmade and is carried out by hand and using looms in small workshops in Morocco.

To wash a Berber cushion of this type, you must always start by removing the dust by tapping the cushion, wet the dirty part of the cushion before cleaning the stains delicately using Marseille soap, then finally rinse the cushion and allow to dry naturally.
