Mrirt rug 2.70 x 2.45 m in 100% pure wool, chemically untreated. Hand-woven by Berber craftswomen from the Middle Atlas. Geometric patterns on a terracotta, grey, and ivory background. Dense and silky texture, characteristic of traditional Berber weaving. Each Mrirt rug is a unique piece: natural variation in relief and knot density, guaranteeing the authenticity of this handmade Berber rug.

The Mrirt is distinguished by its pronounced relief, a result of dense knotting and deliberate weaving irregularity. This technique, rooted in the Berber tradition of the Middle Atlas, is based on know-how passed down from generation to generation. No two Mrirt rugs are identical: each craftswoman's hand leaves its mark on the fabric.

Mrirt Rug: Dense wool, Berber geometric patterns, and large dimensions

  • Material: 100% pure wool, chemically untreated, silky and dense texture.
  • Dimensions: 2.70 m x 2.45 m. Generous size, designed for living rooms of 20 m² or large bedrooms.
  • Patterns: Traditional Berber geometric. High knot density for durability.
  • Colors: Terracotta. Works well with contemporary, minimalist, or boho decor.
  • Origin: Hand-woven in the Middle Atlas, a historic region of Berber craftsmanship.

Use of the Mrirt rug: pronounced relief, acoustic comfort, and thermal insulation

In practical terms, underfoot, the Mrirt's pronounced relief absorbs noise and insulates against the cold of tiles or polished concrete. The thick wool provides genuine softness while remaining robust in the long term. On light parquet, the terracotta contrast plays well with the natural shades of the wood.

To be placed in living areas. Avoid in kitchens or bathrooms: the density of the weave makes it sensitive to excessive humidity.

Maintenance of the Mrirt rug: dense wool, accessible maintenance

Vacuum regularly, without a rotating brush. For small stains, a damp cloth with soapy water is sufficient. Professional cleaning is recommended every 2 to 3 years depending on use. Avoid if you are looking for a machine-washable rug: washing machines, tumble dryers, and aggressive products are to be excluded.

Custom-made Mrirt rug: dimensions and colors without extra cost

Tifinagh Shop offers customization of Mrirt rug dimensions and colors, at no extra cost. Weaving time: 8 to 12 weeks depending on the order. Contact Tifinagh Shop to specify your size or palette preferences. The rug remains 100% handmade, woven by a Berber craftswoman from the Middle Atlas.

The difference with a Beni Ouarain or a Zanafi

The difference with a Beni Ouarain is the relief: the Mrirt has a more pronounced surface, with a higher knot density. It is this irregularity that also explains its better acoustic performance. The Zanafi, on the other hand, focuses more on graphics and solid colors. The Mrirt plays on texture, volume, and visual depth.

What we like about this model: it is durable, it absorbs noise, and the terracotta color avoids decorative impasses. You never regret a large rug.

2.70m x 2.45m / 8.9 x 8 ft

The M'rirt tribe makes luxurious rugs. The M'rirt carpets are similar to the Beni Ouarain carpets, also made in the Middle Atlas; their wool is dense, very soft and silky, densely knotted.

Vacuum maintenance. For small stains, wash with soap and water. Rinse by dabbing. For complete cleaning, contact a professional.
